In late April 2018, AFRO PWW will host an incubation workshop in the DC area. This will be an all-day event with breakfast, lunch, and refreshments provided. Attendees will benefit from overviews of digital design and publishing theory, examples of projects, and will engage in hands-on training in several platforms. No prior experience in digital publishing is necessary and we welcome participants of any skill level. Professionals interested in starting up digital publishing projects or programs at their institutions are especially invited to participate and consult with our staff.
Through 2018, AFRO-PWW is hosting a series of incubation workshops where scholars, researchers, library and museum professionals, who study the Black experience will learn about digital publishing from the ground up. Previous workshops have been held in Jackson, Mississippi and Raleigh, North Carolina, with an event also planned for Savannah, Georgia in late Spring 2018 in addition to the DC area.
Please check this page for updates on incubation events, including the precise location of the DC workshop. Whether or not you are able to attend a workshop, please contact us if you are interested in getting involved or submitting a project. Meet with our staff for preliminary consultations.
